Possibility Vs Probability Thinking

Possibility Vs Probability Thinking: The Fight Between Average and Exceptional

In my business mastermind group we are doing a study of Napolean Hill’s “Think and Grow Rich”.  One of the first ideas he talks about is, thoughts are things, and words have power.

So I decided to do a series on this subject matter and discuss limiting beliefs and language that are holding so many of us back from achieving what we want in life.  As well as the thoughts and language that achieves use.

Steps To Living In The Possibility Mindset

1)  Become crystal clear at what it is you want.

2)  Find a mentor who has already achieved what you want.

3)  Become a student and study what they did.

4)  Take action and massive action at that.

5)  Be committed to the process and never quite

For a more in-depth look at these steps check out my goal setting series starting here.

If Your Desire Has Never Been Done Before

One thing that history has proven is that the mere fact that something has never been done before in no way mandates that it never will be done.  Every great deed was once done for the first time and the person who accomplished it will always be remembered.  Here are a couple of examples:

Roger Banister: The first man to run a four minute mile.  Before he succeeded is was accepted wisdom that the heart would explode if someone ran that fast.  Since Roger proved it possible, thousands of people had accomplished thewright brothers same feat, but Roger Banister will always been known as the first.

The Wright Brothers:  You know the story they were the first to create flight.  Nobody thought it could be done, but when their invention lifted off the ground for mere seconds it ushered in a possibility mindset that has revolutionized the world.

Christopher Columbus:  While prevailing beliefs, at the time, that the earth was flat, Columbus convinced the Queen a boat full of sailor to set out and find a quicker trade route to China.  While he failed in that, he is credited for discovering “The New World” and showing the earth was a sphere.

These are just a few examples of numerous stories that I could of used.  If you choose to go down this path, know it will be difficult, know it will be worth it and know The Three Stages of Truth, yes what you seek is truth. The truth that something is possible.

According to German Philosopher, Arthur Schopenhauer, all truth goes through three stages:

1)  Ridicule

2)  Violent opposition

3)  Acceptance as self evident

Now go “Kill Your Fucking Bear”.

Question About Network Marketing: Who do I talk to?

Disclaimer: The information in this blog applies equally to Network Marketing, Multi Level Marketing and Affiliate Marketing. We use Network Marketing as the primary because of search relevance.

Who Do I Talk To?

Remember this is a business and while there are many things that are different in our business model there are some things that are the same.

whisperMy niece was recently helping to open a new restaurant, lets look at what they did to market.  After they had all the construction and everything else done they had what is called a “soft opening”, this is prior to the grand opening and it is where friends and families of the employees are able to come down and enjoy the restaurant.   They get to work out the bugs and make sure everything is running smooth, but they also want to impress the friends and family so they come back again and recommend the restaurant to their friends.  Next they schedule the “Grand Opening”.  This is a really big night and they may send a direct mail piece to everyone in 5 mile radius, they may walk into all the business in the immediate area and leave flyers for the employees, they may create a Facebook Page and run targeted ads to those living in the neighborhood.

In other words they talked to friends and family, warm market, and they talked to strangers, cold market.

The exact way we talk to people may be a different, but the concept is the same

Why we should work in the warm and and cold market

If you make the decision to partner and go to work with a company, as well a specific team within the company, they will have training programs to show you the proper way to communicate with your warm market and generate leads in the cold market.

If they don’t there are plenty of third party training sources can teach you what you need to know to become successful in this industry.

Success to You,

Questions About Network Marketing: To many people fail

Disclaimer: The information in this blog applies equally to Network Marketing, Multi Level Marketing and Affiliate Marketing. We use Network Marketing as the primary because of search relevance.

Why Do So Many People Fail In Network Marketing?

The failure rate in the Network Marketing industry is slightly skewed for a couple of reasons.  Number 1, many companies don’t differentiate between a customer and a distributor, and good companies have a lot of customers.  So you will have percentage of people who never show a profit, because they are only a customer and never wanted to make money.failed

You also have a percentage of people who don’t join Network Marketing with a desire to make the “BIG” money.  Many just want a part time supplemental income or enough to get free products.  They have a full time job that pays their bills and are only looking for a little boost or play money.  All of these people will be considered failures (even though they are getting exactly what they want), because they failed to make enough money to live off of in Network Marketing.

I am not at all suggesting that there are not people who fail in Network Marketing.  There most certainly are, but the reason really isn’t a secret.  In this video I go over the real reason people fail in Network Marketing.

Failure Rate in other industries

Real Estate Agents:  According to Trulia.com 90 percent of Realtor that complete their school and get licensed choose to not renew that license the second year.  In other words 90 percent of Realtor fail after just 1 year.

College Students: According to the National Center for Education only 59% of students enter a 4 year degree program have earned the degree after 6 years.  No typo the study gave 6 years for a 4 year degree and 41% failed to achieve it.

Professional Athletes:  According to the National Collegiate Athletic Association their are approx 400,000 college athletes in a give year and only .5% of those go on to become a professional athlete.  Yes a 99.5% failure rate and that of those good enough to play college ball.  It doesn’t even scratch the surface of all the high school athletes that had high hopes, but didn’t make a college team.

College Graduates:  Of those college student that do get their degree only 40% of them find a job in their field of study (60% fail to do so) and 50% of graduates are working in jobs that don’t require a college degree.  This is according to two seperate articles in Forbes magazine

New Small Businesses:  According the Small Business Administration on 44% of new small businesses are still in business after 5 years.

These are just a few examples, we could of course list statistics for just about any industry.  None of this was meant to de-motivate you, but only to show that failure exists in all industries and so does success.  You can’t have one without the other.

Success to You,

Questions About Network Marketing – Do I Have To Sell?

Disclaimer:  The information in this blog applies equally to Network Marketing, Multi Level Marketing and Affiliate Marketing.  We use Network Marketing as the primary because of search relevance.

I Don’t Want To Sell, I Don’t Like Sales!

A lot of people have a very negative view of was sales is all about.  Do You?  If you close yocrappy sales manur eyes and get a mental image of sales does it look a little like this?   You know the type of people that brag they can sell ice to Eskimos.   The hucksters, the scheisters.

It makes sense if this is how you view salesman, that you would hesitant or possibly repulsed by the opportunity to join the ranks of  SALESPERSON.  So this fear leads to a common question or objection when someone is looking at the home based business industry.

Is This Sales?  Do I Have To Sell Something?

Sales Is: Getting A Person Intellectually Engaged In A Future Result That Is Good For Them And Getting Them Emotionally Committed To Take Action To Achieve That Result.

If you changed your definition of sales to that.  If you accept the truly great salesperson are problem solvers.  If you believe that sales is about helping people to get a product or service that is going help them get from  where they are to where they want to be.   Does that sound better then the mental picture you had when you first started reading this.

If the product or service or business that you are be asked to partner with don’t meet those definitions then don’t do it, but if they do then realize the gift that you are being given.  The gift of truly making a difference in people lives and making a awesome income to do it.

What could be better?

Success to You,

Questions About Network Marketing: Is It A Pyramid Scheme?

Is this a Pyramid Scheme

pyramid scheme

This question is one of the most mis-understood questions in the home based business industry.  You will see people suggest that all kinds of companies are pyramid schemes, ponzi schemes, or scams.  Yet they make these assertions often without understanding at all what actually defines an illegal enterprise.

I also find that people that ask this question fit into two categories.  The first is a person who is dislikes anything to do with Network Marketing or home based business and label everything they see as a pyramid scheme just to throw mud.  If you fit into this category, please don’t waste your time by reading this or my time by commenting on it.   The second person is a person who may be interested, but want to make sure that what they are looking at is on the up and up.  These people value there own integrity and honesty highly and don’t want to risk their reputation by aligning themselves with something that might come back to make them look bad.  If that is you the information in this blog will be invaluable.

 What is a Pyramid Scheme?

The SEC definition of Pyramid Scheme

This is from the government SEC website that monitors the industry you can find more information on this at http://www.sec.gov/investor/alerts/ia_pyramid.htm#.U4PcpCgVeKg

When considering joining an MLM program, beware of these hallmarks of a pyramid scheme:

  • No genuine product or service. MLM programs involve selling a genuine product or service to people who are not in the program. Exercise caution if there is no underlying product or service being sold to others, or if what is being sold is speculative or appears inappropriately priced.
  • Promises of high returns in a short time period. Be leery of pitches for exponential returns and “get rich quick” claims. High returns and fast cash in an MLM program may suggest that commissions are being paid out of money from new recruits rather than revenue generated by product sales.
  • Easy money or passive income. Be wary if you are offered compensation in exchange for little work such as making payments, recruiting others, and placing advertisements.
  • No demonstrated revenue from retail sales. Ask to see documents, such as financial statements audited by a certified public accountant (CPA), showing that the MLM company generates revenue from selling its products or services to people outside the program.
  • Buy-in required. The goal of an MLM program is to sell products. Be careful if you are required to pay a buy-in to participate in the program, even if the buy-in is a nominal one-time or recurring fee (e.g., $10 or $10/month).
  • Complex commission structure. Be concerned unless commissions are based on products or services that you or your recruits sell to people outside the program. If you do not understand how you will be compensated, be cautious.
  • Emphasis on recruiting. If a program primarily focuses on recruiting others to join the program for a fee, it is likely a pyramid scheme. Be skeptical if you will receive more compensation for recruiting others than for product sales.

Now that you have the facts on what separates legitimate home based business companies of ones of questionable legality you can move forward confident that your good name is protected.

Success to You,

Are You Right For Network Marketing?

Disclaimer:  The information in this blog applies equally to Network Marketing, Multi Level Marketing and Affiliate Marketing.  We use Network Marketing as the primary because of search relevance.

The First Thing To Know Before Joining A Network Marketing Company

There are tons of people joining the Network Marketing industry right now.  Unfortunately there are also a lot of people failing in the Network Marketing industry.  I think one of the reason is they skipped the very important first step that I reveal in this video.

Are You Right For Network Marketing Quiz?

This test is for you only, nobody will see it unless you choose to show it to them.  Don’t give the answers you think you should, give the answers on what you actually feel when you read the question.  This will only help if you are absolutely honest with yourself.

Mindset questions:  True and False

1)      I believe I am a person worthy of living the life I dream about.

True          or         False

2)     I believe that I have the potential to be a leader.

True          or         False

3)     I believe in abundance, that there is enough wealth to go around.

True          or         False

4)    I believe that most wealthy people earned it by adding value to other people lives.

True          or         False

5)    My desire for success is more powerful then my fear of failure.

True         or          False

Give yourself one point for each True Answer and zero points for each False answer.

Mindset question:  Multiple Choice

1)    I see someone driving a really nice car and I think to myself…….

  • A)  Good for them, I can have one too if I really want one.
  • B)  So unfair those jerks have that, I could never afford one.

2)    When I hear someone talk about a personal development seminar coming to town I think……..

  • A)   That would be so cool I would love to hear what they have to say.
  • B)   What a waste of time, besides I might miss New Jersey Housewives.

3)    I think goal setting is…….

  • A)   An important part of my life

4)     The most likely way I can achieve wealth is……

  • A)  Positive Mindset + Action + Time + Right Vehicle will lead me to wealth
  • B)  Lottery tickets

5)    I believe that my retirement plan is the responsibility of…….

  • A)   Only me
  • B)   My job and the government

For each (A) answer give  yourself one point, for each (B) answer give yourself zero points.

Skill set questions

1)   I am able to communicate clearly with people.

True          or             False

2)  I am organized and invest my time wisely.

True           or             False

3)   I have the ability to motivate and inspire others.

True            or            False

4)  I have the ability to train others.

True            or            False

5)  I am coachable and am willing to learn from those who have mastered the skills.

True            or            False

Give your self one point for each True answer and zero points for each False answer.  If you answered true to question 5, give yourself points regardless of the rest of the answers.

What is “Are You Right For Network Marketing” Score?

There is a possible 15 points in this quiz.  If you scored……

12 – 15 points – You are an excellent candidate for Network Marketing.

Less that 12 points – You need to work on some mindset barriers before you could be successful in Network Marketing or almost any other field.  Here is the great news if you want it bad enough and you are willing to do the personal growth that any good Network Marketing Company has you can still be an excellent candidate.   It may take you a little longer to see success while you are learning, but you will still achieve it here quicker then anywhere else.

Now that you know if You Are Right For Network Marketing…

It is now time to learn how to evaluate Network Marketing companies so that you can partner with a company that will give you the best chance at success.  To see my presentation on “How To Select A Network Marketing Company” click here.

Does the IRS want you to be rich?

DO TAXES FAVOR THE WEALTHY?

In this current political cycle we have heard a lot of discussion on the tax code being unfairly weighted to benefit the wealthy.   The mantra of “Tax the Rich” and the belief that it will fix all of our countries economic woes, that it will fund all the programs that our politicians want to give us, in an attempt to buy our votes.  It all sounds so great, but it begs the question do the rich wealthreally pay less in taxes?

Here is the reality, there are actually three different, primary tax codes.  One is for W-2 employees, two is for business owners and the third is for investors.  The tax code does not care how much money you make and it doesn’t have different rules for different incomes.  It does have different rules for these three categories, regardless of how much you make.  Lets take a look at them.

(This article in no way should be considered tax advice from me to you and I highly recommend you talk to a tax advisor to determine how this information can affect you directly.)

W-2 Employees Pays The Most Taxes, Because They Have Less Deductions!

The tax code is a simple concept, made unbelievable difficult by thousand upon thousands of pages of exceptions, deductions and rules.

The concept is you make “X” per hour, per week or per month, etc,  you then deduct certain and specific items from your gross income.  Your “adjusted gross income” is what you get taxed on.

Here is where W-2 employees LOSE BIG TIME with the tax code.  You are allowed very few IRSdeductions from you gross income.  This simply means that you pay your percentage of taxes on a high percentage of your total income.  THAT REALLY SUCKS!!  This is the same no matter how much you make as a W-2 employee and as you can see the more you make the higher your percentage and total taxes you pay.

This break down of the tax rate you will pay based on your adjusted gross income is correct for the 2012 tax code..

Tax rate Single filers Married filing
jointly or qualifying
widow/widower
Married filing
separately
Head of
household
10% Up to $8,700 Up to $17,400 Up to $8,700 Up to $12,400
15% $8,701 – $35,550 $17,401 – $70,700 $8,701 – $35,350 $12,401 – $47,350
25% $35,351 – $85,650 $70,701 – $142,700 $35,351 – $71,350 $47,351 – $122,300
28% $85,651 – $178,650 $142,701 – $217,450 $71,351 – $108,725 $122,301 – $198,050
33% $178,651 – $388,350 $217,451 – $388,350 $108,726 – $194,175 $198,051 – $388,350
35% $388,351 or more $388,351 or more $194,175 or more $388,351 or more

Business Owner Pay Less In Taxes and Keep More Of Their Money

First let me make this very clear business owners pay the exact same percentage rates on their adjusted gross income as W-2 employees do, but here is the HUGELY IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE.  Business owner get to deduct many more things from their gross income the W-2 employees do.   This means as a business owner, with the additional tax deductions, you will pay taxes on a smaller amount of adjusted gross income than a W-2 employee who makes the exact same amount of “Gross Income” as you do.

Many of the deductions that you can take are on expenses that the W-2 employee also have, but they are not able to deduct.  Watch the video below for some examples of this.

The reason our government gives these incentives for people to have businesses is because anti irssmall business employee a majority of our countries population.  The tax code doesn’t care if you are rich or poor it just cares HOW YOU MAKE MONEY.

Investment Income Has The Lowest Taxes

This is income that is earned through investments.  This income is actually taxed at a lower percentage rate, it is also the income talked about in the much discussed “Buffet Rule”.  Some consider this tax a second bite at the apple because the money invested was already taxed when the money was made.  Others disagree, because only the profit on the investment is taxed.

The bottom line is this type income pays the least amount of taxes, but it is difficult to ever keep enough money as a W-2 employee to acquire enough investments to take advantage of this benefit.  The trick is to take advantage of the tax benefits and extra income potential of having a part time home based business to make enough money to start investing.

In this video I interview and enrolled agent with the IRS and small business tax specialist. We discuss the tax code for employees and small business owners.

There are several deductions that we did not have a chance to talk about, but are very important.  Including deducting your medical insurance and paying your kids for working in your business tax free.  To take advantage of these types of deduction you need have three things.

#1  You need a good small business accountant.  I highly recommend Kim Rossenbach with Computek Financial Services.  She can be reached at (602)493-7947 or on her website www.computekfinancial.com

#2   You need a good way to track legitimate business expenses.  Keeping good records is extremely important so I recommend and use a program called TAXBOT.  You can find out more about this program at http://www.taxbot.com.

#3   You need a business with an intent to make a profit.  There are a lot of options on how to do this, but if you would like to find out about the business I recommend filling out the form on the bottom of this blog for immediate access to information on my company.

Make it a great day,
